Red's CD Music Review
Hi, I'm Greg...I Review CD's Maxwell - Embrya

For us who have been around this Earth for awhile, it must have crossed your mind once or twice, where has the romantic, soulful musical styles of the '70's gone? Look no further, as finally an artist has emerged into this genre in the '90's.

Maxwell brings his own flavor of soul, jazz and funk in his second release, "Embrya." The leadoff (and best) track, "Everwanting: To Want You To Want," will have you slow dancing with your significant other directly into the bedroom.

Other highlights include the sultry "Luxury: Cococure," the spiritual "Matrimony: Maybe You," and the smooth, transcendent "Gravity: Pushing To Pull."

The disc is full of midtempo songs which act as a natural aphrodisiac without using a trace of inappropriate language. Please don't let the strange and somewhat lengthy song titles dissuade you from picking up this one. After a few spins, you'll be yearning for some Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson as well. If this one grabs you, try Maxwell's first effort, the highly recommended "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite." Embrya gets 4 Rocks.
